Should I book my Snuba tour with you?

Please do not wait until you are in port to make your decision to Snuba with us...our dives generally fill up prior to your ship's arrival.

Book direct with us of course! We are the oldest Snuba operation in the world and we accommodate thousands of cruise ships passengers every year. Everyone has a great time and gets back to the ship on time!

If you are coming in on a cruise, keep in mind Virgin Islands Snuba Excursions cannot be booked directly through your ship you must book directly with us. Virgin Islands Snuba Excursions takes out thousands of cruise customers every year that book directly through our web site. We have worked with most of the cruise lines in the past but found the pressure to rush large groups of people through the Snuba experience was not conducive to the more casual and intimate experience we like to provide. The internet has allowed us to "cut ties" with the cruise lines while still providing the opportunity for cruise passengers to experience our tour in a much less hurried manner. Our Snuba operation differs in a few ways from the ship's Snuba tour:Snuba Family St. Thomas Virgin Islands

  • Our dives are longer. The St. Thomas Snuba excursion offered on the ship - practice and dive - will only be about 20 - 30 minutes of total in-water time our in-water time is 45 minutes to an hour.
  • We give a thorough safety orientation and then we go into the water for a practice session. Our dive consists of a shallow water practice which allows everyone to get comfortable with the breathing and the equipment (while keeping your feet firmly planted in the silky sand of Coki Beach), we check our buoyancy and then you are led on a guided underwater tour. Our average dive time is 30 minutes this does not include the time in the water getting comfortable. Total water time is about 45 minutes to an hour.
  • We take photos of our customers underwater, which can be viewed at www.visnuba.com/digitalphotos.htm.
  • We have been specializing in Snuba for over 19 years and do not divide ourselves between snorkeling, scuba diving, and Snuba diving we ONLY do Snuba. We are the Snuba specialists!
  • We are the "oldest" Snuba operation in the world, operating Snuba since 1988.
  • Our groups are small and personal allowing for more time for comfort of the individual
  • Our Snuba operation is the only exclusively family owned and operated Snuba operation in the Virgin Island.

Guest Comments

The dive was the best part of our cruise. Everyone who goes to St. Thomas should take this excursion, but do it on your own, not through the cruise lines. Can't wait to do it again. A Big THANKS to Frank...you are the best!

My family (husband, two preteen boys and myself) had a great time trying Snuba for the first time in St. Thomas. We had no problems getting to the location from our cruise ship. Tammy provided excellent instruction for us all and told me she was a mom too. She watched my two boys (and the rest of us!) so I didn't need to worry and really enjoyed myself. It was the highlight of our trip. We will definitely go back next time we are in St. Thomas.

V.I. Snuba was the most awesome excursion of our trip.(actually the best excursion in 12 ports). Frank, the instructor (and owner) was very patient and put us all at ease. That is saying a great deal since I am slightly claustrophobic and afraid of fish!
We would all recommend this excursion. We had no problem getting there from our ship (Carnival Valor)as there were constant taxi shuttles running from Coki Beach to the Pier. The beach was not crowded and there were no motor sports which meant it was nice and quiet for a relaxing time.
We plan to introduce our friends to V.I. Snuba on our next trip to St. Thomas!

Getting to our dive locations is easy!  Find out more about Snuba on our "Frequently Asked Questions" page.

Reservations are necessary, as we keep our groups small and personal, so reserve now to insure space.   Also, we ask that all cruise passengers call 340-693-8063 prior to leaving for their dive to make sure that the seas are favorable for Snuba that day.  Weather does not affect the dive but rough seas do and this is something you cannot judge by your ship's cruise into port as the seas vary from one side of the island to the other.

GETTING THERE:

SNUBA AT COKI BEACH, ST. THOMAS
Reservations are required! Take a taxi from your ship's docking or drop off  area to Coral World at least a half hour before your dive time.  The cost should be about $9 per person each way.  There are plenty of taxis going to and from Coral World so you need not worry about making return arrangements.  Once at Coral World you will meet Frank or Tammy at the Coral World ticket booth about 5 minutes before your reservation time.

SNUBA AT TRUNK BAY, ST. JOHN
Getting from St. Thomas to St. John:  This is easy!

  1. Take a taxi from ship docking or drop off area to Red Hook ($10 per person).  Catch this taxi at 9:20 AM for the 11 AM dive and 11:20 AM for the 1 PM dive.

  2. Take the 10 AM ferry to St. John from Red Hook for the 11 AM dive and the 12 Noon ferry for the 1 PM dive.  These ferries leave every hour on the hour between Red Hook and St. John. The cost is $5 per person and $1 per child under the age of 12.

  3. Once on St. John, take a taxi out to Trunk Bay.  This takes about 10 to 20 minutes and costs $6 per person.  Again, there will be plenty of taxis going both ways so no need to make pick up arrangements If you do not want to be set with a return time.

  4. At Trunk Bay, you will pay the Virgin Islands National Park admittance fee ($4 per person, kids under 16 free) and then go to the Trunk Bay Gift shop (this shop faces the snack bar).  The "Gift Shop" is where you will meet your guide.

If you participate in the 11 AM St. John dive you can be back to your ship by 3 PM at the very latest and quite possibly 2 PM.  If you participate in the 1 PM St. John dive you will be back to your ship by 5 PM at the very latest or quite possibly 4 PM.  Most cruise passengers participate in the 11 AM dive, unless their ship has an "all aboard" call of 5:30 or later.
